Pet care for your dog
Your veterinarian
Your greatest ally in the prevention of health problems is your veterinarian.
Make sure you register with a veterinary practice.
Your veterinarian will advise you on vaccinations, worming, feeding, and general
health care of your dog. Annual booster vaccinations are essential to keep your
dog healthy and your veterinarian can give your dog a complete health check at
the same time. You can also use this opportunity to ask any questions about your
dog's health - but don't wait until a booster is due before seeking advice for a
medical complaint.
Fleas
Some of the signs that your dog may have fleas. Constant scratching
and biting, especially along the back and around the base of the tail.
Some individuals are actually allergic to the flea's saliva and for these dogs,
the bite of a single flea is enough to provoke a violent skin reaction. You may
see the brownish-black fleas themselves, moving through your dog's hair
especially visible on the tummy where the hair is thinnest, or you
may notice the presence of dark specks of material - flea dirt (faeces) - in his
coat.
Regular dog washing using a Special Flea Rinse Shampoo will eliminated the fleas
on the dog. But it is essential to treat the environment as well, because fleas
spend more of their life away from their host than on them. The Best flea
control is having Regular washes every two weeks, PLUS a special treatment that
we can apply for you to the skin of the dog, once a month, turning your dog into
an Effective Flea Killing Machine wherever it goes.
You can also remove all of the
dog's bedding and wash it well, along with the box or basket. Dusting powder in
the blanket or box can also help enormously, and for those that cook for
their pets, feeding your pet Garlic makes for an unpleasant host.
Skin Problems : Dry Flakey Skin
A few people have asked about there dog having Dry Flakey Skin. The solution
to this problem can be as simple as using a medicated pet shampoo containing
selenium, which needs to be rinsed off the dog after application. Add a teaspoon
of oil containing Lineolic Acid, such as Sunflower Oil to your pets food and
this should resolve the problem. Sometimes a pet that has extra sensitive skin,
may need to have the Special Flea Rinse Shampoo washed out of there coat after
there bath, a provision which Tammys Mobile Dog Washing is able to do
using there special Twin Tank Hydrobath when booking the wash. If your pet
still has skin then you will have to take him to see a Vet.
Be a responsible dog owner
Like all worthwhile things in life, owning a dog involves responsibilities as
well as pleasures. The pleasures are obvious but sometimes the responsibilities,
not just to the dog but also to other people and the environment, are not always
appreciated by the owner.
A well-trained and disciplined dog is an asset to his owner so make sure he
receives at least some basic obedience training. Don't allow him to foul public
footpaths or children's play areas - if he does so, use a scooping device to
clean up after him. Keep him on the lead near roads or anywhere that he would be
a nuisance if allowed to run free. Keep him healthy, well fed and exercised.

The councils now have strict guidelines in the keeping of Dangerous Dog
Breeds. Particularly American Pit Bull Terriers and other similar
fighting/hunting dogs. It is essential to take the time to actively and
responsibly train these dogs if there is any hope of relaxing the laws aimed at
breeding these dogs out of existence in Australia.
